This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely look for his previous work after reading this one.
The characters were well drawn, and likeable - that's important to me. If I don't like a character, I find it hard to care about the story. Cohen is a complex guy, with some quirks to his character - but a very sympathetic guy, all told. The mother - oh, my goodness, SHE's something else! And the father, while not a nice person, was a better man than I expected by the end.

The plot was interesting, and took an unexpected turn at the end. I am not a religious person, and at first I thought the references to the church and confession would put me off, but it really didn't, that part of the story was necessary to the final conclusion.

Give this one a chance, you won't be sorry.
