Things are just starting to pick up as this excerpt ends; I'm curious to see how the dual timelines interact. We get seemingly random pictures of his childhood, largely revolving around a church setting, intertwined with the modern timeline of his father's death (maybe). A skilled storyteller could bring them together, and I hope that's what this author is.
