An intriguing introduction
This one is a slow start for what feels like it will end up being an explosive story. So far we have allusions to a scandal that led to his father being expelled from his church, the knowledge that his mother ran off and took his sister with her, and that the young Cohen had a thing for his Sunday school teacher (possibly related to nothing). We're left with an overwhelming amount of questions in these first 30 pages. What was the scandal? Why did his mother take his sister but not him? Why is Cohen convinced his father is dead? Why doesn't he call the police himself? The cover is a little lackluster for my tastes, but it may be hinting at parts of the story as-yet unrevealed.
