Well, this was an unexpected first impression (even with the perfect title and subtitle). Or maybe I just wasn't sure what to expect. These short reflections, each featuring various hip hop artists, offer words of encouragement using a quick vignette or experience to highlight a life lesson that anyone can incorporate into their life with chapters about motivation, creativity, authenticity, reinvention and mental wellbeing. The artwork in the book is beautiful and the messages are fairly broad, but I expect that most who would pick up the book will be hip hop fans, which is a bit unfortunate. I can imagine that there are many, especially young people and youth, who would appreciate hearing some of these reflections. I do wish the format was visually a bit easier to digest (two columns, small font, text heavy) - even highlighting or bolding some of the key lessons and quotes would make this more compelling.
