Legacy of War is number nineteen in a series!! Perhaps it's my own fault, but I didn't understand that from the summary and couldn't figure out why it felt like I should already know things. I hate coming in to a series anywhere but the first book, and this was definitely not the first. If you aren't the kind of person this bothers, it isn't as if you won't be able to follow the story. But I always feel like I'm missing so much backstory and character development. (And I would have to read eighteen other books to catch up, which is quite the time investment).

Otherwise, it's an action packed historical novel with a good suspenseful build. It's set just after the World War Two era, which is an era that's overdone lately. But it's set in Africa, so it's a bit different than the concentration camp/occupied Europe that is the standard setting lately.
