It was just gross
I'm sorry to say that I was unable to finish this book.
Legacy of War is very well written with so much detail that I had to stop reading. The first chapter is about the extremely detailed depiction of slaughtering a goat and drinking it's blood. I cannot stand animal cruelty and understand that the author is trying to paint a picture of the scene but it was disgusting and disturbing. This book goes on to create really uncomfortable scenarios that I just can't stomach. It seems like Wilbur Smith books are getting more and more gory as they go on. I don't know if this is the work of the additional author but I won't be reading any more of his books. This book should be categorized under historical thriller or historical horror thriller than historical WWII fiction. It is just too hard to read the overall intense descriptions of the killing of animals.
