I received a free advance e-copy of this book from the author and have chosen to write an honest and unbiased review. I have no personal affiliation with the author. Wow! A great story set in the beautiful, rugged, and wild Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota. This is a well-written book with a great plot and excellent character development. A story of broken families, abandonment, and damaged psyches and how they deal with psychological trauma and their pasts. The author writes in a manner that makes the reader have care and concern about what happens to these flawed characters. Full of secrets, suspense, twists, and turns. I couldn’t put it down. I like Maya, the speech therapist, as she operates out of the box at times. She really cares about the residents of Congdon psych facility. Her patient’s lives and wellbeing are both first and foremost within her mind. This book is well worth the read and I look forward to reading more from Mindy Mejia in the future.
