Leave No Trace by Mindy Meija....a gripping tale...full of mystery. The perfect summer thriller...a beautiful scenic camping trip with Josiah and his 9 year old son Lucas. Something happens. The campsite ripped, scoured, left in disarray with neither Josiah or Lucas or any trace of them to be found. There was a manhunt, a media firestorm...and like many cold cases/mysteries...eventually it slows until all is forgotten and people move on. But Lucas appears...years later...
Full of intrigue and suspense...twists and turns that make the story an interesting one from beginning to end. Author Mindy Mejia has a way with keeping us at the edge of our seats but also pulls us in with a more sentimental aspect to the story...the characters. All the characters have something going on. All are important to the course of events. All have some family dysfunction or dynamic that brings us to want to understand them better. Deep dilemmas, damaged people....people with a struggle...Mejia is good at writing these people into the story...and it makes for more than just a mystery and trying to solve something...it gives more complexity to what we are reading and I loved that.
A great read...fast paced...well developed...worth the time.
