LEAVE NO TRACE is a psychological thriller that features Lucas Blackthorn, who'd gone missing as merely a boy and resurfaces as an adult, violent and mute, and the speech therapist, Maya, who breaks through to him. We learn not only how Lucas came to be at the mental hospital, but how Maya came to work there, and the stories and events that link their lives together. The book definitely covers some unethical actions in the name of helping patients through their struggles, and not just Lucas's. It also details the relationships between parent and child in settings that are often considered "abnormal", really forcing the reader to reflect on what is considered "crazy".
