The year is 1952. Evander Mills has recently been fired from his job on the force and kicked out of his apartment for being gay and is approached by a wealthy widow to investigate the mystery of her spouse’s death. The catch? It was her wife. Evander “Andy” is drawn into a world he didn’t think was possible. A house full of queer people who live like a family. All of them brought together by Pearl and Irene. Irene was the owner of Lamontaine Soaps and was found dead by her wife who is convinced it was murder. But who could it be? Everyone had a motive. Andy doesn’t want to believe anyone is this happy queer little home is a killer, but everyone has a secret that he slowly unravels.

This book was short, sweet, and very good with pacing. I’ve read two murder mysteries back to back and I was guessing the whole way who the murderer could be. The clues were interesting and it was very engaging. I was starting to like and feel bad for all the characters and I didn’t really want anyone to be the suspect just like Andy. The ending was extremely satisfying and I’m excited to read more like this in the future.
