Detective Evander “Andy” Mills has lost his job when he is approached by the widow of a soap empire to solve the murder of her wife, Irene. The time period is 1952. Andy stays in the house during the investigation and is greeted by Irene’s chosen family and everyone becomes a suspect.
I thoroughly loved this book, the character development, the atmospheric feel, and the locked door murder mystery style. The 1950s time period showed the struggles that the LGBTQIA+ community faces and still face every day. “When your existence is a crime, everything you do is criminal…”
The was a powerful whodunnit novel that was done so well! It’s got humor, wit, suspense, and twists. Honestly, a favorite of this year for me. Looking forward to more from this author!
