*First, thank you to Lev AC Rosen and Tor/Forge Books for the ARC this review is based on.

Honestly, I've never read another book like this (this is a good thing!). Set in 1952, the mystery of who killed Irene Lamontaine is a focal (and enjoyable) theme of the book. However, I felt like the other main theme of the book were the relationships between the members of the Lamontaine family and their partners. As Evander "Andy" Mills begins to investigate who killed the family matriarch, he is amazed at the open lives the queer family members live within their household. As the story progresses, Rosen develops all of the family characters fully and you will come to love them!

This novel was eye opening for me-I had not fully considered the level of violence that members of the LBTQ community experienced during the 1950's. This may be triggering to some readers and should be considered before reading.
