For starters, I feel the cover comes close to grabbing me with the silhouette, but I find it to be overall flat.
I only had interest in one character in this entire first look and it, unfortunately, was not the main character. I wasn't invested, I wasn't drawn in, and I don't see myself changing with any additional words.
That said, I was not turned away by any of this writing. I feel the whole story might fall flat relying too heavily on your typical tropes (I'm not well versed on the genre, so they might all), but I think this still has a decent chance with the right audience. I'm just not that audience.
