This was a strong opening chapter for the story. I was endeared to the male main character early on when he stepped in to help the young girl escape her abusive boyfriend at the bar, and felt sorry for the guy when I realized he intended to kill himself that night. The mysterious woman that showed up to offer him a job gives Mob Boss vibes and the reader gets the information that the male lead was fired as a police officer after being discovered he was queer. This is a very interesting story and has a captivating writing style
