More of a crime thriller than a haunting mystery.

The cover and title brought to mind a moody, lushly atmospheric gothic mystery or ghost story- but this book actually reads and feels like a crime novel, perhaps a crime thriller. Seems capably written though and has a unique premise and setting. I’m not sure how worthwhile the main plot will end up being but I was definitely hoping for something different.
