This was so fun to read as it paints a very vivid picture. I love the historical feel of the time period and the cynicism of the main character. With both things and his former hob, it has a very film noir feel. I am already very intrigued by the inhabitants of Lavender House after just meeting 3 of them. This seems like the start of a wonder LGBTQ+ historical mystery. I am already hoping someone buys the rights to adapt it to the screen.
