The Lavender House details the story of a recently-outed ex-cop contemplating ending his life in San Francisco after being caught at a gay bar in the 50's. His story takes a turn, however, when the widow of the Lamontaine soap fortune hires him to solve the murder of the matriarch of the family. The family has established a sort of queer commune in their home, which appears to hide its own secrets.
The writing is both evocative and detailed, giving the reader clear pictures of the characters and laying the groundwork for a fascinating mystery. I can't wait to read more!
