Lavender House is a classic 50's noir mystery with a twist - all of the major players are queer. I love the way the narration paints a vivid picture of the setting. I can smell the floral scents in the lavender house of the title. Besides being an absorbing mystery, the book explores the cost of keeping secrets in 1950's San Francisco.
