Laurentian Divide is an unexpectedly poignant book. For some reason I was expecting a mystery- where is Rauri Paar? While the book does cover that topic, there is so much more. Family secrets, alcoholism, death, child molestation, forgiveness, and starting over. Through all of these storylines the common thread is love. The people in this town love each other and take care of each other. Alpo is the best example of a loving person. The way he mourns his first wife is beautiful. And how he strives to love his new wife is even more beautiful. The wedding scene is the best!! I had no idea this book was the second in a series so now I must read Vacationland and learn more about all of these wonderful characters.
