The Last Call killer would be caught a lot faster today then when he was murdering gay men in the 80s and 90s. Because the bodies were dumped in different states or cities it was hard to connect the crimes. Plus the stigma that these were gay men it seemed that the police weren’t going to find the murderer. Some persistence and luck really pulled through and he was caught.
I bought this book for the true crime. And I found it to be so much more than that. I thought the history of gay men in the northeast was important to understand. I found it so sad how many people had to live the closet in the 70s and 80s. Then there was the fear and shame around being gay or having HIV which was something I am too young to remember. This book taught me a lot about that as well as tracking a killer. This is a short book and fast read. I’d recommend it to any true crime or history lover.
