Y’all know I love a good true crime story. This one follows the investigation of the Last Call Killer. This killer focused on gay men in the 80s and 90s, and you find yourself in the middle of finding bodies, while police try to hunt down the killer. There were a few things throughout the book that I found extremely helpful. One of which, timestamps. Sometimes when you’re reading a true crime story, the author needs to hop around a little to make sure you fully understand the whole story. Timestamps help so much to know where you’re at in the timeline. Another super helpful addition: maps. I have been to New York a couple times, but that’s the extent of it. Having the maps throughout to show you where remains were found in relation to one another and some key locations was so nice. Something else that was interesting to me was that I’m a millennial, so I wasn’t aware of serial killers in New York while I was a child. It’s interesting to see how police investigated the crimes then versus how we use the internet and our digital footprint so differently today. If this one sounds interesting to you, check it out! It will publish on March 9! Thank you so much to Celadon Books for my ARC!
