OK, you guys, I love true crime. I will read books, watch the programs, and listen to podcasts until I’m convinced the car behind me is following me. Then I take a short break before I dive right back in.

This. Did. Not. Disappoint. I will admit it took me a bit to get in to. Author Green is a journalist, and there is so much detail packed into about 200 pages that I had to read and sometimes re-read sections a few times. Sometimes I found myself getting confused with the names of detectives and police officers who were involved.

This story of the “Last Call” serial killer, who preyed on gay men in NYC in the 80s and 90s, is a story that needed to be told. Green does an incredible job of painting the lives of the victims, weaving in the history of NYC’s gay bars, the daily fear of the AIDS epidemic, the activists who worked so hard for justice and equality for the gay community, and the detectives who worked these cases for more than 10 years. Thoroughly recommend!
