My Review of
LAST CALL (A True Story Of Love, Lust, and Murder In Queer New York)
By Elon Green
Gifted & Published by Celadon Books
*****
This was an eye opening true crime story of a serial killer whose sole focus was killing gay men in the 80’s and 90’s in different areas of New York. It brings back the stories that at the time we’re so easily forgotten with homosexuality not being as excepted as it is now, the fear of AIDS spreading through the gay community and mix that in with all the other murder and crime cases the police had to investigate.

It tells you the stories of the men that were found and how they were found, mostly in the most horrific fashion. This serial killer most certainly thought out and picked his victims before striking and then tragedy to follow.

This book is truly a tragedy and I know Green did great research and pieces together what he could, but I would have liked to have seen more depth on each victim, paint a larger picture and presence of this notorious killer and more emphasis on the court case. Otherwise, I did enjoy learning about these men’s lives and feel good that tribute was paid to them by giving them a name and a face.
