Elon Green has brought more information to a case that has largely gone under the radar, The Last Call Killer. As a true crime fan, this book blew me away. It is so well done both the research and the writing.
Green takes a horrible case and gives it some heart, focusing strongly on the victims and their lives. Green also delves into the LGBTQ community in New York at the time of the killings. We get a glimpse at what life was like in NY from discrimination to banding together to protect the community.
With this book, you get social commentary and “new” police procedural breakthroughs. I enjoyed hearing how the police finally solved this case. It is shocking how long this case took to solve with lack of evidence and jurisdictional issues.
