This is a great book. It details the murders of gay men in New York City in the 1980’s and 1990’s. It covers some history of the widespread bias against gay men. Quite a few gay men were killed and dismembered by a vicious killer, who turned out to be a respected nurse in a surgical cardiac intensive care unit. These murders, committed by a a serial murderer, should have received a large amount of coverage by the media (which might have saved some of these men) but did not. Perhaps the lack of coverage can be attributed to the rise of AIDS. Mr. Green also gives us the backgrounds of these victims. They had to hide their sexual preferences which left them vulnerable to the killer. This book was reminiscent of Ann Rule’s books in the 80’s and 90’s. I received a complimentary arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. If you are a fan of true crime, you might want to check this out.
