I have to get it off my chest, I am not a fan of short stories. But here I willingly finished a book of them. And not short stories of a place I am familiar with but about a foreign place with people in circumstances I find strange and exotic. This is an interesting book.
There are 10 stories in the book. I could tell you about each one, but then you wouldn't need to read them for yourself. I think you should. These are stories about people who grew up with different customs and different expectations from life. I think you will find ways that they are just like you as well as different.
These short stories are slice of life stories. They don't have a catharsis. They don't present a problem and solution. They just enter a life and move forward for a while. Then they leave that life. You get a brief insight into the characters. Then you are done with them. As I said, I am not a big fan of short stories, but these were interesting.
I first found out about the book from BookishFirst, but the copy I read for this review I received from Shelf Awareness.
