This novel surprisingly surpassed my expectations! I am not usually a fan of anything historically accurate, but I found myself captivated and interested by this read. It had a very slow start, but once I continued I was able to finish the novel.
This is not necessarily a book I would recommend for your ‘to be read’ list. The plot is well developed, yet it did not leave me wanting more throughout the majority of the book. I’m very glad I decided to give this book a try, solely because I got exposure to a new genre.
The major reason I did not give 5 stars was because it took quite a few chapters before I was even remotely invested in the story. Otherwise, the characters were well developed and proved to be very interesting to learn about. This was my first experience with a new genre and I am not entirely disappointed!
On another note, the cover is absolutely gorgeous and looks so pretty on my bookshelves! I recommend.
