This book is essentially a collection of short stories detailing the experiences of various people that ties into one central theme. At the beginning I was skeptical getting into this since it's not at all what I usually read or what I like to read, but hearing the experiences of all these people, how they overcame challenges, the struggles they went through, I was tempted to keep on reading and reading until the very end. I think the overall theme of freedom is one that was explored well in this book. Living in America, this made me think differently about the freedoms that I have - made me more thankful for them - as I realized what these people were forced to go through. I understood as well the importance of protecting these freedoms and making sure that everyone in the country also have access to those freedoms as well. I would reccommend this book to any person living in America, I think it opens your eyes and also exposes you to a new culture.
