From the first paragraphs, Land of Big Numbers gripped my attention...not because it is action packed, but because of the descriptive, nuanced writing. Author Te-Ping Chen set an immediate pulse with her prose, and I quickly became invested in Lulu’s story and eager to find out what happens to her. If the other characters and stories mentioned in the summary are as strong as this one, I have a feeling this might be one of my favorite books of 2021. It appears to be an important look at life in China, when we so rarely get an honest portrayal from today’s divided politicians and media. Adding this to my TBR as soon as I hit submit!
