This summary raised a lot of questions! I haven’t read much magical realism but this does seem very intriguing. The one thing that really stood out to me was the people stuck in the subway. Why are they there? Who has them trapped their? Are they actually trapped? I also imagine the twins get in some trouble with their respective jobs because they are twins.
