I didn't like the book as much as I'd hoped. It was ok. I does have the gothic vibe but the story was just unexpected and it made me scratch my head a bit. I understood what was happening at the home and the strange things going on with the master of the home, but the reasoning behind it just didn't work for me personally. The cover is gorgeous and the book has a lot of potential. I feel like it just didn't live up to my expectations and that's definitely on me.
I didn't care for the characters either. They whole immature vibe was just not working for this book and come off more annoying than anything else. When there's an unlikable main character who's not the villain, that just sets the tone for me and hard for me to look past. I'm glad the book was enjoyable to other readers, unfortuntately, it just didn't work for me. It wasn't the worst book, but certainly not the best.
