I’m not much for dark, creepy or violent. I didn’t get far into this excerpt before I stopped reading. Violeta and Arien were found as siblings, they don’t know what exactly happened to their biological parents but violets knew they were gone. Arien has nightmares. Their adoptive mother sees the nightmares as a sign that dark forces are after him and she treats him violently in return :(
