The dark event taking place with the MC's brother immediately pulls me in and I want to know what is happening and why. There are some contrasting things going on here: their religion, which is all "light and golden" but feels off, and what's happening with her brother. I like the descriptions and details--it's told in first person POV--and it gives a sense of foreboding and unease, something unnatural like dark magic.

The cover made me think of Phantom of the Opera because of its dark romantic fantasy vibes, though I personally don't like people on my book covers.

I'm a fan of dark fantasy, more on the dark fantasy and less on the romance, but this is YA, so it'll have romance in it sadly, but I do want to read more.
