A story about the pressures of a queer person, especially one that is supposed to act as a role model for others who relate to him, is an excellent hook for the story. I think there is a lot of possibilities here to explore the added expectations societies put on LGBT people as if we need to prove our "goodness" or "pureness," as opposed to what may otherwise be perceived as "normal" in a cis-het person.
The discussion of a secret relationship is a trope that is overdone in a lot of LGBT novels, so I am excited to see if this novel offers has a new spin on it because of the aforementioned depth they could achieve with the story.
