I am one hundred percent not a romance reader, and especially not someone who regularly picks it up. But after all the hype surrounding this book, I just had to pick it up!
Stella and Michael are two very enjoyable and wonderful characters. I loved seeing their relationship develop, and I was rooting for them not just to be together, but also as individuals. I really appreciated the fact that Michael being a sex worker was not disrespected and was looked at as valid worked, and the fact that the sex between the two of them was always deeply consensual.
This does fall into some tropes that are the reason why I don’t enjoy romance novels - the ending was WAY too “wrapped up in a bow” for my liking - but this was definitely a pleasant surprise, and can’t wait to read more from Helen in the future!
