Picture a book with below-average characters - they are flat, stereotypical, kind of static, and rather boring. Definitely cliches, most of them. Okay, fine, that sort of book can be manageable. After all, it's not only about the characters, is it? Well. . . add into the mix a cheesy plot that kind of feels like click-bait in a YouTube video that you will not be able to bring yourself to watch through to the end. It sounds cool and dramatic, and I guess in a way it is, but it is also cliche, silly, and very tropey. And then the dialogue is awkward and stilted, and the writing is below average at best. . . look. I am not one to judge any authors (although I just wrote several sentences that may seem evident to the contrary). I know that it's very hard to write a novel, and a good one is even harder. But. . . c'mon. Did she really think this was a good idea? Not my kind of book.
