I was impressed by how relatable and genuine the characters were. Though there was no shortage of cliches and tropes, Stella and Michael themselves keep the reader invested. It is a gender swapped Pretty Woman essentially. I appreciate Hoang’s investment in the personal touches she added. It gives the readers an authentic perspective of someone on the spectrum and creates empathy and a sense of comradery. It was what drew me in the first place. I am not normally a ‘romance’ reader. But, oh there was plenty of heat for fans of the genre! All this to say, I was not disappointed. I laughed, blushed, and ‘aww’-ed consistently. This would also make a fun movie! Hoang has turned a sceptic into a believer.
