I read The Kiss Quotient as part of the 12 Challenge; it was the first book recommended to me and so it was my January read! I loved how I jumped right into the story; the hook was very quick! But the next thing I noticed was how clearly Michael is depicted and how generic Stella is described: dark eyes, glasses, and curly hair is all I picked up on. It’s unique in that Stella could be almost anyone, but it was disorienting in my visualization.

The autism and Asian representations in this book were probably my two favorite things apart from the romance aspect. I’m enough of an avid reader to have read books with these representations before the last few years’ push for more representation in media, but this book was like a melting pot of hot, Asian and autism romance that felt very real for the world we actually live in because it was honest and messy.

Stella is straightforward in her feelings about sex, and she’s right, it’s not always pleasant even when it’s consentual. As for Michael, his family has real world problems but a very tight bond amongst those who remain. And let’s be honest now, the sex in this book is quite steamy and ironically slow-burn for someone who hires a male escort in the first few pages.

I have to say I truly enjoyed this book, but I do think ¼ of the dialogue could have been cut and the book might have even been better for it. All in all, I’m giving it 5 stars!
