this book had its good and bad parts for me. The Kiss Quotient is about a 30 year old autistic woman named Stella who hires a male escort (Michael) to teach her about sex and relationships so that she can find someone to date in the real world. as you can presume, romance develops from there. i adored Stella’s character and thought she was really sweet and honest and ambitious. additionally, all of her decisions and actions lined up with her internal monologue and i felt like i had a really good grasp on who she was. on the other hand, Michael pissed me off. he was very insecure and possessive (when he and Stella technically weren’t even “together”) and he often treated Stella like a child or made her do things she was uncomfortable with. i understand that he was trying to get her out of her shell but some of the stuff rubbed me the wrong way. also the things he said during sex trying to be seductive made me so uncomfortable LMAO! settle down boi! the big drama that threw a wrench in the romance felt way too calculated and soap opera-esque that i actually rolled my eyes. additionally, Stella had a really creepy coworker who forces himself on her multiple times and it really is not given enough attention and Stella’s feelings about these situations are not fleshed out really at all. i will say that the romance kind of won me over at the end once Michael got his shit together but in terms of the fake dating trope and male love intetest i much prefer The Hating Game (the only other adult romance novel i’ve ever read). i did FLY through this in a matter of hours so if you’re looking for a quick read or something to get you out of a reading slump, i definitely recommend!
