This book is absolute perfection. 👌🏻🙌🏻 It is everything you could want and MORE in a contemporary romance novel. This is not only Helen Hoang’s debut novel but also an “ own voices” novel for she sees so much of herself in Stella, the main character who has Asperger’s.

First and foremost I am so excited that this story was recommended to me because I had never heard of the term Asperger’s, only Autism. I struggle with many rare health problems myself and it’s very hard to suffer from an invisible illness that others cannot comprehend or are ignorant to. ( granted this is not always their fault, that is why it is important to educate the world on all kinds of health problems that may not be understood by an everyday healthy person.) The struggle is real, you can feel like an outcast due to a condition that is beyond your control. I commend Helen Hoang for stepping forward with her story and helping me to understand Asperger’s. When she states in her Author’s Notes that , “ sometimes instead of confining you, a label can set you free,” in my own personal experience I couldn’t agree more!

This is a tale of Econometrician, Stella Lane, meets escort/tailor Michael Pham when she hires him to teach her the “intimate” sides of life. They first agree on just 3 sessions of informative sex, but later feel it is more important to practice a fake relationship to help to develop Stella’s social skills.

This story takes you through a 30 year old girl allowing herself to come undone, and let her hair down ( literally) but it also tells the reader a second story of a man who sees himself as a no-good loser achieve some confidence in himself that he is not like his father.

I laughed out loud so many times reading The Kiss Quotient that I lost count. Stella is a one-of-a-kind character that you won’t find anywhere else!

This book was TRULY a breath of fresh air and it’s going in my favorites folder right now!
