So I ended up DNFING this book. There was an immense amount of internal dialogue and description that I don’t normally see in a contemporary book. I couldn’t really differentiate between the two boys and I didn’t really care much about either of them. Ultimately I don’t think this is my kind of book.
I think I was expecting something more characteristic of modern YA which is a lot more fun and happy and more involved ? This one started off really boring and I just could not bring myself to continue.
Also, the “flashback” section to when they “became” friends didn’t make me feel anything. I wonder if it would have been better to give some more current stuff before jumping into a flashback. Ultimately I don’t think this is one I would ever come back to and try to finish. The target audience is definitely not me!
I do hope others like this one more than I did! And I won’t be reviewing this on other sites since I didn’t finish it.
