Okay, so the writer is very talented and the world building is nice. Sadly, it is not hitting the mark for me at this moment. I’m not sure if it’s the sullen and downcast feeling of 2020, but as well written as this is set up, I just found it hard to return to the book. But I see it has so much promise even if I am not ready for it. I plan on trying it again as I greatly believe it deserves my attention. My attention span is just fraying at the moment. I recommend it as a great option for a Fall read. There are lots of exciting things that happen from the start and plenty of mystery and revenge in the plot.
The book is thick so be sure you are ready to settle in for the night. The atmosphere is interesting and for some reason gave me a Mary Poppins meets The Witcher vibe.
