I think I found my next favorite epic fantasy series
Based on the first look available on this site, which includes the prologue and the first chapter, I must admit that I'm in love.
The protagonist, Michael Kingman, is an absolute delight to follow - he has a distinctive voice and personality, and you can't help but root for him.
The prologue drops you in the middle of the actions so to speak - we are witnessing Michael's trial for killing the king and the stakes are high from the get go, like life and death high. I am not usually a fan of books that start with a prologue, but this one certainly got my attention.
The book also introduced enough hints at future mysteries from the get go to make me invested in this story. I want to know about this world and the strange magics that people posses. I want to know what happened to the moon.
I am definitely putting this book on my to be read list.
