Nick Martell is very talented at world building. I think this book is mostly a steady pace world building and plot set up. It such an evenly paced book that I never really felt we go to a climax. What would be considered the climax was still at the same pace and feels like more of a set up for the series.
The world is rich, the characters are rich, and the magic system I need more and hope to get that with more books.
I didn't find myself getting lost in this book. I don't think it could be broken up and I appreciate that it wasn't a information dump. I glad we got to discover this world and way of life moment by moment, but it really doesn't lead much for anything else.
Each character has a very clear voice and motive and I can't wait to see where it goes.
