Pulled into it, in spite of myself...

I know, I know, I'm shallow. But the first aspect of a book that I notice is always the cover. There has to be something that appeals to me in order to elicit my interest. I admit, the broken moon and Assassin's Creed style of artwork on the cover drew me in.
Now as far as the story... I go through stages of genre interest in my readings. If I'm not in the mood for fantasy, I usually find little motivation to read it. It's fair to say, when the cover pulled me to read the sample, I wasn't expecting much. By the last available page, however, I was trying to scroll even though I had reached the end. The few pages I had to read left me wanting to hear more of the story. I want to know more about the Fabricators and the moon fall. I want to hear more of the story that is left to be told.
In this short moment of reading, I find myself caring. That in itself makes me want to read it all.
