The assassin power of blood, mixed with their magical abilities, and working in the shadows made them a pretty badass group. The truth about Noc’s curse was obviously there so that he had a reason to to need the Gyss but I thought it just dragged the story out rather than providing much value to the overall story. Leena herself was pretty powerful and smart and willing to fight even in situations where she didn’t think she’d win. It was her best quality. The love scenes were good but the book could’ve been written without them. Maxym has a way with words; all the beasts were so vivid and the beast realm was just magical. The beasts were my favorite part but got lost among the romance. Leena made such a big deal about acquiring and taming Onyx that I was dissapointed to see him emerge from the beast realm only a couple times. I probably won’t be continuing in the Beast Charmer series but would pick up any other stand alone books she writes!
