This book is set in a steam punk meets dream land where "charmers" can tame otherworldly brutes and keep them in their own reality. They can visit this other world, or have the mammoth come into their reality. Leena is on the run from her own kin and land. She discovers that there is an abundance on her head so she is resolved to end it and is happy to try really hard to end it... in any event, defying the professional killers of death herself.
I adored the world and the entirety of the characters. There was acceptable profundity and subtleties. It was rarely exhausting and it was difficult to put down.
I would have given it four stars, yet deducted a star for language and a few sexual moments. Due to those reasons alone, I would delay to prescribe it to anybody.
**There is on-page sex, double sex language, sexual/interesting comments, and a couple of terrible words.
