I was really enjoying the world building in this book but I found the plot point tended a little heavily towards tropes I don't enjoy. The main characters, in different situations may have been enjoyable but struggled under the weight of the overly used tropes and felt flat and motivation-less. It wasn't that the book was unreadable, it just wasn't keeping my attention like I needed it to.
The concept has potential, and I was marginally interested in how it ended and where the characters ended up, but it didn't suck me in like so many others did. I found myself getting distracted by my phone instead of reading (never a good sign).
