I struggled with the star rating on this one, I was going between 3.5 to 4.5 stars. So I'm putting it at 4 stars.
The concept for this book was really interesting. There are charmers who bond with beasts: imagine pokemon. And the Cruor, an assassin's guild.
Leena is the charmer who has been exiled from her homelands for the worst of crimes. To survive she is selling her beasts, another crime to the charmers. In top of her other problems, someone has made a contract with the Cruor to kill her.
Noc is the guild leader for the Cruor. He has a dark past that has left him cursed. He strikes a shady bargain with Leena in exchange for four beasts, hoping he can find a cure.
I enjoyed this book a lot. I took issue with a few smaller details, but overall I liked it. I think the beasts sound amazing, I want to be a charmer!
