The King of Kings by Wilbur Smith began very slowly for me. At first I thought I might give up but I felt compelled to fully read the book and give it the attention it deserved. I am so glad I did. After a few days of picking it up and putting it back down I was found myself truly drawn into the story and the characters. The author does such a good job of developing the characters fully and then allowing the reader to slowly become immersed int eh entire story that all at once I I found myself looking forward to continuing to read. The uniqueness of the story as it unfolds is true genius and the writing is superb. While this is a book that you may find difficult to get into immediately it is a story well worth staying with.
